In the World Table Tennis Team Championship 2024, the Indian Women’s Team beat Italy 3-0 to storm into pre-quarterfinals in South Korea’s Busan today.
The India women’s team will take on Chinese Taipei in the round of 16 later today at 1.30 p.m. IST. With victory in this match, the women’s team will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Ayhika Mukherjee, who led India to victory against Spain yesterday, were crucial to the team’s triumph against Italy. Batra and Akula won their respective matches 3-0, while Mukherjee dropped just one set, winning 3-1 to help India qualify for the round of 16.
On the other hand, the Indian men’s team, who easily defeated New Zealand 3-0, advances to the round of 32 to face Kazakhstan. Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran dominated their respective clashes of the tie while Manush Shah fought hard to seal the game.
The quarter-finalists in both the men’s and women’s categories will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
