Budapest: India has secured a spot in the final of the mens 4x400m relay at the 2023 World Championships with an impressive performance in Heat 1 held in Budapest on Saturday.

Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh, achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Asian record time of 2:59.05.

They secured the second position, following the favourites USA, who completed the race in 2:58.47. Great Britain secured the third automatic qualifying spot with a timing of 2:59.42.

This achievement not only earned India a spot in the final but also saw them break the previous Asian record of 2:59.51 held by Japan.

The performance of the Indian mens relay team also surpassed Indias earlier national record of 3:00.25, set in 2021.

The mens final will be one of the last events of the Championship, with the womens final taking place afterward.

Before that, Indians across the world will watch with bated breath the mens javelin event, where Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, DP Manu, and Kishore Kumar Jena set to showcase their skills (scheduled for approximately 11.45 PM IST).
