As the day of the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections draws closer, political campaigning is intensifying. Senior BJP leader Amit Shah is scheduled to hold several public meetings in the state today. He will attend a rally at Lebong ground (around noon) in Darjeeling town, followed by a meeting at Rajganj of Jalpaiguri district.
Later in the afternoon, Amit Shah will join a rally at the Falakata Mill road ground in Alipurduar. He is scheduled to join a public meeting at the Kalibari RMC ground in Tufanganj in Coochbehar.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Union Minister Smriti Irani will also participate in a number of programmes in the state today.
Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee also has multiple campaign programmes today. Alongside a public meeting in Chopra and Islampur in North Dinajpur, she is set to participate in two consecutive marches in support of the party’s candidate for the Siliguri Assembly constituency and the candidate for the Nagrakata Assembly constituency.
