Chaos erupts at Bishalgarh court as wanted accused Ranabira Debnath creates dramatic ruckus during extortion-linked firing case appearance. Police intervene, detain suspect, and investigate links to violent threats, gunfire incidents, and organized criminal network involvement.

Tension gripped the Bishalgarh court complex on Monday after a dramatic disturbance involving a wanted accused disrupted normal proceedings and drew large crowds of onlookers. The incident unfolded when Ranabira Debnath, a key suspect in an extortion-linked firing case, appeared at the premises accompanied by a group of supporters and created a chaotic situation that required police intervention.

According to officials, Debnath had been evading arrest for over a month in connection with two cases registered at Bishalgarh Police Station in March under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. His sudden arrival at the court complex was marked by a show of strength, as he reportedly led a procession of around sixty to seventy ახალგაზრდers from SDM Chowmuhani toward the court premises, shouting slogans and attracting public attention.

Witnesses described the scene as highly unusual and disruptive. Upon entering the court complex, Debnath reportedly sat at the main entrance in a yogic posture, blocking access and halting movement in the area. As police personnel approached him, he allegedly began verbally abusing officers and attempted to lecture them on constitutional and legal matters in broken English, escalating tensions further.

The situation quickly intensified into a heated confrontation between Debnath and law enforcement officials. With the crowd growing and order deteriorating, police stepped in decisively. Officers eventually overpowered the accused and physically escorted him to a waiting police vehicle before transferring him to Bishalgarh Police Station for further questioning.

Authorities also took mild action against several supporters who had accompanied Debnath and were chanting slogans inside the court premises. Their presence contributed to the disorder, prompting police to act swiftly to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation.

The case against Debnath stems from serious allegations involving extortion and intimidation. Police reported that a group of assailants had targeted government contractor Anup Saha and his family, demanding a sum of Rs 50 lakh. The attackers allegedly entered the contractor’s residence on two consecutive nights in March, during which gunshots were reportedly fired. Investigators later recovered empty cartridge shells from the scene, confirming the use of firearms.

Although Debnath was not physically present during the attacks, police claim he was connected to the assailants through a video call, suggesting a coordinated effort. Several of his associates have already been arrested in connection with the case, and multiple raids had been conducted over the past month in an attempt to locate him.

Police sources indicated that Debnath’s interrogation will focus on uncovering details of the extortion network and establishing his role in the firing incidents. Meanwhile, an advocate present during the incident stated that approximately seventy to eighty যুবকদের had entered the court premises, though many fled once police detained the accused.

Some local residents alleged that Debnath had been moving freely in the area prior to his appearance in court, raising questions about enforcement efforts. However, police maintained that they had been monitoring the accused and gathering evidence throughout the investigation.

Officials also confirmed that another accused in the case, identified as Ranabir Sarkar alias Mon, believed to be the alleged mastermind, has already been arrested and produced before the court. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the criminal operation and ensure accountability.
