Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s period action drama Ranabaali has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the pan-India film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

The much-anticipated period action drama Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clearing the film for its scheduled worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film has generated considerable excitement among fans and cinema enthusiasts. The production house announced the certification update through its official social media platforms, urging audiences to book their tickets and experience the historical drama on the big screen.

Sharing the announcement, Mythri Movie Makers described the film as a story that had survived generations and a legend deserving to be witnessed. The production house also confirmed October 16 as the worldwide release date, promoting the film with the hashtags #Ranabaali, #NeverForget and #RanabaaliOnOct16th.

The U/A certification marks an important step in the film’s preparations for its theatrical release. With the certification secured, the makers are building anticipation around the film’s historical setting, action sequences and central characters ahead of its arrival in cinemas.

Ranabaali was originally scheduled to release on September 11, 2026, but its theatrical debut was subsequently moved to October 16. The upcoming release is expected to attract audiences across multiple Indian language markets, as the film is being mounted as a large-scale pan-India production.

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna Reunite

Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character, Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Jayamma, his wife. The film marks the third on-screen collaboration between the actors, following their appearances together in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.

Their pairing has been a major talking point among fans, with the new project bringing them together in a period drama that differs from their earlier films. The historical setting and action-oriented storyline have further contributed to expectations surrounding the movie.

Actor Arnold Vosloo, widely recognised for his role in The Mummy, plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. His involvement adds an international name to the film’s principal cast.

Period Action Drama Set During British Rule

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century British rule in India, Ranabaali is being presented as a period action drama inspired by historical events spanning the years 1854 to 1878. The film aims to explore incidents from the colonial era and present a cinematic interpretation of stories that, according to claims surrounding the project, have received limited attention in mainstream historical narratives.

Sources associated with the film have described it as a reconstruction of an era drawing on multiple historical accounts, oral histories and records. Rather than presenting itself as a conventional biopic or a straightforward textbook retelling, the film is expected to combine historical inspiration with cinematic storytelling.

The makers’ promotional messaging has also emphasised the theme of revisiting history and remembering events from the past. However, the specific historical incidents portrayed in the film and the extent of its interpretation of historical records will become clearer as more details emerge.

Big Production Backed by Mythri Movie Makers

The film has been produced on a grand scale by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, with T-Series presenting the project. Its large-scale production and pan-India positioning reflect the makers’ ambition to reach audiences across different regions.

The combination of a historical narrative, action drama, a prominent lead pair and a British-era setting has made Ranabaali one of the films attracting attention ahead of its scheduled release.

With the U/A certificate now secured and October 16 confirmed as the worldwide theatrical release date, the focus will shift towards the film’s final promotional campaign and audience response.

As Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna prepare to reunite on screen, Ranabaali is set to bring its interpretation of a turbulent historical period to cinemas across India and international markets. The film’s theatrical performance and reception will determine how strongly its historical storytelling and central performances connect with audiences.
