Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, the new government has brought 30 reforms in the Education system including ‘Vidyajyoti Schools’ scheme under which an approval has been sought for CBSE affiliation for 100 government schools. He said 52 schools already received CBSE affiliation.

“There are as many as 92,773 students and 2967 teachers in the 100 identified schools. The government would recruit in 1400 teachers and other staff for such schools”, he said, adding that the new 1400 posts would cost additional Rs. 34.10 crore to government exchequer per year.

Under the Vidyajyoti scheme, fund of Rs. 146 crore for 58 schools in rural areas and Rs. 105.9 crore for 42 schools in urban areas has been sought for infrastructure development, he said.

The 100 schools will be special-category schools; students from any part of the state will have opportunities to take addmission while twenty schools in the city will be special expertise school having various facilities.

The rate of students’ dropout in primary level has come down from 4.12 percent in 2016-17 to 2 percent in 2019-20.

While addressing a press conference on Friday, Nath claimed the dropout rate in the upper primary level has also come down 5.25 percent in 2016-17 to 3.52 percent in 2019-20.

The admission rate of students in primary schools has increased from 95.88 percent in 2016-17 to 98 per cent in 2091-20 while in upper primary level, the figure has increased from 95.74 per cent in 2016-17 to 98.48 in 2019-20, Nath said.

Director of School Education Chandni Chandran and Joint Director Keshab Kar also remained present in the press conference.
