Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of engaging local artists and incorporating the state’s traditional mixed culture in beautifying the road from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport to Agartala City during a review meeting held on Tuesday at the Secretariat.

Dr. Saha suggested prioritizing the traditional mixed culture of the state in this beautification project and highlighted the significance of involving local artists to enhance its appeal.

In the review meeting Dr Saha directed the project implementing authorities to ensure no compromise in the quality of beautification work. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of installing street lights along the Airport-Agartala road.

During the meeting, it was announced that an attractive foot overbridge will be constructed at Radhanagar Motor Stand in Agartala to alleviate congestion and facilitate pedestrian movement. This foot overbridge will feature a total of four escalators on both sides, with an allocated budget of Rs 5 crore 60 lakh for its construction.

The beautification project encompasses various components such as planting different species of flowering trees, constructing new walls to replace old ones, showcasing the cultural diversity of all ethnic groups including the people of Tripura, creating replicas of Unakoti and Chabimura, establishing small parks, crafting steel sculptures and statues, installing modern and attractive hoardings, implementing colorful zebra crossings, and planting large trees.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, Finance Secretary Apoorba Roy, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and officials from various departments including the Airport Authority.
