US CENTCOM launches Task Force Falcon Strike, the first multinational, multi-domain attack drone unit, integrating US and regional partner capabilities across the Middle East to strengthen deterrence and expand unmanned warfare operations.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the establishment of Task Force Falcon Strike, the first-ever multinational, multi-domain attack drone task force designed to integrate unmanned capabilities operated by the United States and regional partners across the Middle East.
According to a statement issued by CENTCOM on Thursday, the new task force will employ one-way attack drones across multiple operational domains, including systems operating above, on and below the sea. The initiative is intended to bring together emerging unmanned technologies and military personnel from the United States and participating regional countries into a unified operational framework.
The launch of Falcon Strike comes nine months after CENTCOM established Task Force Scorpion Strike, described as the US military’s first dedicated one-way attack drone squadron in the Middle East. CENTCOM said the experience gained through Scorpion Strike has helped demonstrate the operational potential of unmanned attack systems and created a foundation for expanding multinational cooperation.
Scorpion Strike reportedly achieved several significant operational milestones following its establishment. One of the key developments came in December, when the squadron carried out what CENTCOM described as the first-ever launch of an aerial attack drone from a US Navy warship.
The task force also employed one-way unmanned aerial systems during Operation Epic Fury and used unmanned attack vessels at sea during strikes against Iranian port facilities in July, according to the CENTCOM statement. These operations highlighted the growing role of unmanned platforms in modern military operations and demonstrated the ability to deploy such systems across different environments.
US CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said Falcon Strike would build on the achievements of Scorpion Strike while taking advantage of technological innovation emerging among US regional allies and partners.
“Integrating and deploying our new capabilities together” would allow participating countries to rapidly explore new operational possibilities, Cooper said, according to the statement.
The initiative is expected to develop progressively as regional countries formally participate in the task force. CENTCOM has already begun consultations with regional partners and initiated the process of officially inviting them to join the multinational effort.
CENTCOM said that once regional partners formally become part of Falcon Strike, the task force will be capable of scaling attack drone capabilities across the Middle East. The objective is to create a unified, multi-domain and multinational deterrent by integrating unmanned systems and operational capabilities from participating countries.
Cooper also stressed the importance of existing US partnerships in the region, saying that the United States has strong relationships with countries across the area and that collective integration of emerging capabilities can strengthen the partners involved.
The formation of Falcon Strike reflects the growing importance of unmanned systems in contemporary military planning. One-way attack drones and unmanned maritime systems can provide military forces with additional operational options while allowing them to conduct missions across air and maritime environments.
The task force will be led by personnel from US Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), the organization that launched Task Force Scorpion Strike. SOCCENT will oversee the staff comprising US personnel and representatives from participating regional partners.
SOCCENT is headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, and is responsible for planning and conducting special operations throughout CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. That area covers 21 countries spanning the Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia.
With Falcon Strike, CENTCOM is seeking to move beyond individual unmanned drone operations toward a broader multinational structure. The initiative could provide participating forces with a platform for coordinating emerging attack-drone technologies across air, surface and subsurface environments.

The announcement also signals continued US emphasis on strengthening military partnerships in the region while adapting to rapidly developing unmanned warfare capabilities. As regional partners consider joining the initiative, Falcon Strike is expected to evolve into a wider framework for coordinated drone operations and multinational deterrence across the Middle East.
