US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, who is currently visiting Kolkata, on Saturday enjoyed his electric scooter ride in New Town area near the city.
He said technology-led public transportation sharing systems are a great example of promoting sustainable transit, advancing electric vehicle adoption, and improving health for everyone.
Posting his reaction on X, the American envoy said: As a former mayor, I love to see what city leaders are doing to improve their communities. I thoroughly enjoyed my e-scooter ride in New Town Kolkata, a planned Green City. Technology-led public transportation sharing systems are a great example of promoting sustainable transit, advancing electric vehicle adoption, and improving health for everyone. Together, we can build a greener and healthier future!

Garcetti on Friday said India and the USA are working to build a future-focused relationship that extends from the seabed to the stars.
He was speaking at the event marking the U.S. National Day to celebrate the 248th year of American Independence and the 230th year of the U.S. presence in Kolkata.
The event also marked the U.S.-India collaboration in space.
Garcetti said: We celebrate all the many small steps and giant leaps the United States and India have taken together and all the other milestones weve marked along our journey as we build a future-focused relationship that extends from the seabed to the stars, and beyond.
