Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations at the lawns of the Churches and Convents of Goa in Old Goa. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted yoga’s role in fostering a healthy body, mind, and a peaceful world.
Mr. Naik emphasized that yoga is more than a physical activity-it is a spiritual and philosophical journey that promotes unity and inner strength. He also recalled the inception of International Yoga Day in 2015 and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing it at the global stage.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant led Yog Day programme at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taligaon.
He said India has given the greatest gift to the world by introducing yoga, which is now celebrated globally on June 21 following recognition by the United Nations. The Chief Minister urged people to integrate yoga into their daily routine, along with awareness of Ayurveda, seasonal diets, and disciplined lifestyles, rather than limiting it to a single-day activity.
