Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Consumer Affairs and Food Processing Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that radical changes have taken place in various sectors in Tripura in the last 6 years of the present regime. She said the state has received momentum in the development process because of the proper implementation of the central schemes. The Union State Minister said this at a press conference in Agartala today.
 The Union Minister, on the first day of her two-day state visit, chaired a meeting with the top officials of various departments of the state and central government to review the progress of various schemes and projects. Amongst others, secretary of State Rural Development Dr. Sandeep Rathore, and District Magistrate of West Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan were present in that meeting.
Later in a press meet, the Union Minister said that the state received Rs 4,558 crore from MNREGA from 2006 to 2013-14. After Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, Rs 8,351 crore has so far been allocated under MN REGA in Tripura. At present more than 90 percent of funds has been spent in MN REGA He said that Rs. 599 crore were sanctioned in the formerly called Indira Awas Yojana from 2007-2014. Currently, more than Rs. 4000 crore has been released under PM Awas Yojana since 2014 till date. She said that 1 lakh 4 thousand 970 houses were constructed in Tripura under the then Indira Awas Yojana as against 2 lakh 94 thousand 911 houses constructed in the last nine years. She also highlighted achievements under various schemes in the state during the last 9 years.
She said when the beneficiary gets a house of his own under the central government scheme, he/she also gets a gas cylinder connection and other amenities like a toilet, Ayushmaan Bharat card and ration card.
 
She said before 2014, no MoS, Cabinet Ministers and Prime Minister ever visited North East states. The minister claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has visited North Eastern states more than 50 times. Earlier in the day, the minister interacted with SHG women’s and inaugurated the Amrit Sarovar project at Rangacherra in Mohanpur which has been built under MGNREGA scheme.  
 
Talking to reporters after visiting an exhibition of the Women Self Help Group at Mohanpur RD Block in West Tripura district, she said with the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Parliament there is a different degree of enthusiasm among women. She said through Women’s Reservation Bill, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured the political contribution of women folks in Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.
 
Crediting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that women of the country should become self-reliant, she said women associated with self help groups are doing extremely well in making different types of handicrafts and other things.
 
At present more than 9.5 crore women are linked with self help groups across the country, she claimed, adding that prior to 2014, two crore women were associated with self help groups.
 
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti also said that the Government has made it easy for women folks to borrow loans from banks at low-interest rates. The newly launched central scheme,  PM Vishwakarma Yojana enables handicraft artisans, and craftsmen among others to borrow loans, she said.
