Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has highlighted that Road and Transport infrastructure are becoming world-class-level in the country, resulting in reducing travel time and saving the environment. Mr. Gadkari made this remark while addressing the 75th annual session of the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA) held in New Delhi.
He said that India now secured third position, in the construction equipment industry in the world, overtaking Japan. Pointing out the Road construction’s quality, Mr. Gadkari stated that the government will not compromise with quality and strict action will be taken against contractors. He added that the government is focusing on maintaining world class safety measures and quality in the Road and Transport Infrastructure in the country.
Addressing Industry bodies, the Minister urged for reducing the consumption of diesel, and adopt alternatives of environment polluting components in construction activities. He also made the attention of Industry bodies, on the importance of exercising road safety measures for the citizens, as the number of fatalities caused due to road accidents is rising every year.
