Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, today inaugurated the newly constructed Brahmaputra wing of the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati followed by E-inauguration of National Cyber Forensic Laboratory at Golaghat and foundation stone laying cum inauguration of various development projects for the Armed Forces. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Central government is prioritizing a forensic evidence-based approach in the criminal justice system in the country.
 
E-Inaugurating the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory, the Home Minister said that that Cyber Security and forensic science are very important for our citizens as it will protect the hard earned income of citizens as well as the country as a whole. The new National Cyber Forensic Laboratory will work for all the Northeastern States, added the Union Home Minister. Addressing a large gathering, Mr. Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union government brought three new laws by abolishing the British era Indian Penal Code to provide justice to the citizens and to make the criminal justice system people-centric and scientific.
 
Later in the day, Mr. Shah is expected to attend the Panchayat Sanmilan in Guwahati where nearly 20,000 elected panchayat representatives, including 16,671 from the BJP and over 1,500 representatives from other NDA allies are expected to attend the programme. In addition, elected representatives from all autonomous councils will also be present. However, keeping in view the forthcoming BTC elections, no representatives from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) will participate. In the evening, he will launch the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Assam’s first non-Congress chief minister, Golap Borbora, before leaving for New Delhi this evening. Assam Governor, L.P. Acharya, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonwal, Punjab Governor, Gulab Chand Katari amongst others were present on the occasion.
