Situation in a spiraling effect turned extremely volatile in Bishalgarh as a two storied CPM party office at Office tilla was burnt down after ransacking , allegedly by the BJP supporters. The incident is viewed as a retaliation of the Udaipur clashes in which BJP supporters were brutally beaten by CPM cadres.

The arson took place on Wednesday noon about three hours after the Udaipur clonfrontations.

The huge two storied building was virtually destroyed with entire interior being reduced to ashes and fire service personnel had a tough time to bring the fire under control. Sources said a huge gathering turned out in front of the CPM office and set it aflame. One CPM leader’s house near the building was also attacked. Police had a tough time disperse the crowd.

Earlier Wednesday morning Udaipur witnessed massive clashes as DYFI and SFI sought to bring out a procession . The permission of the procession was not given by the SP Gomati and huge reinforcement was made in the town. But as the CPM workers gathered in front of Jamtala party office tension beuild up gradually and then snowballed into violence. SFI leader Nabarun Deb was seen arguing with the police officials while in the meantime one BJP worker was chased and beaten by the cadres. Fire service personnel rushed in and rushed him to hospital in a critical condition.

Police had to fire several rounds of tear shells. The Scorpion vehicle of MLA Ratan Bhoumik was also damaged.

The police actions during the clashes were not at all satisfactory , they seemed more or less silent spectator. Even Tourisim Minister Pranajit Singha Roy expressed his deep dissatisfaction at the police inaction.
