U.S. President Donald Trump will travel to Israel and Egypt tomorrow to solidify his role as a regional peacemaker following a recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. He is expected to address Israel’s Knesset and meet with freed hostages as part of the agreement, which includes the return of 28 bodies.
The US President’s visit coincides with the deadline for Hamas to release hostages under the ceasefire deal. Trump called the agreement a great deal for everybody and said it could mark a broader step toward Middle East peace.
The ceasefire ends over two years of conflict, triggered by Hamas’s 2023 surprise attack that killed over 1,000 Israelis and led to a prolonged Israeli military campaign in Gaza. While both sides praised Trump’s role, experts warn that lasting peace will require ongoing pressure on Israeli leadership to uphold the truce.
