Tension prevailed in bordering Rahimpur under Boxanagar police station when two youths were injured at BSF firing.

Sohag Mia and Iqbal Hossain sustained rubber bullet injuries as they got involved in a scuffle with the border guards. They were rushed to GB hospital.

 Sources said, the two youths were engaged in drugs smuggling.

“On Wednesday morning when a gang of smugglers tried to slip a consignment of narcotics through the border fencing the BSF jawans noticed them. As the jawans chased and ran down Sohag and Iqbal a scuffle ensued. It was then the BSF men opened rubber bullet at them and they were hit on legs and hands”, said a local.

The injured youths were brought to Boxanagar hospital first and from there sent to GB hospital.

Rahimnagar border had all along ben a hot spot of smuggling and there were several recurring incidents  smugglers- BSG clashes.  Recently some smugglers following a clash with the BSF snatched away one jawan’s rifle. It was later recovered with the help of the villagers. There were, of late, also incidents of BSF firing at the smugglers.
