Two BSF jawans were killed and one seriously injured – all belonging to 20 Bn BSF-when they opened fire at each other.

The incident took place at Silacharri in Gomati district at extreme border point at around 5.45 pm tonight.

Reports reaching here said, Havildar Satbir Singh and constable Pratap Singh were on patrol duty along the Indo- Bangla border when for some reasons altercation between the two began.

At one point of time at the fit of rage constable Pratap Singh shot Havildar Satbir Singh at head from his Insas Rifle. Satbir Singh died on the spot. However, Constable Pratap Singh having killed the Havildar went to the camp and opened indiscriminate firing. At this time Sub Inspector Ram Kumar Singh came out and tried to pacify Pratap Singh and asked him to surrender and lay down his weapon. But evidently mentally unbalanced, Pratap Singh raging in fury shot Ram Kumar Singh. The bullet hit the Sub Inspector at leg and he fell down seriously injured. Since Pratap Singh was in no mood to surrender and attempted more firing BSF sentry Abhimanyu Yadav then opened fire and shot him dead on the spot.

Soon after the incident police and senior BSF officials rushed to the spot. Injured Sub Inspector Ram Kumar Singh is being shifted to Agartala for treatment.
