A livelihood initiative by TRLM Pecharthal Block in Tripura’s Unakoti district has transformed the lives of five SHG families through vending carts provided under Samriddhi CLF. The beneficiaries now earn ₹1,500–₹3,000 daily, ensuring financial stability, self-reliance, and sustainable rural livelihood growth.

A simple yet impactful livelihood intervention by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has brought significant economic transformation to five Self-Help Group (SHG) families in Pecharthal Block of Unakoti district. The initiative, implemented through the Samriddhi Cluster Level Federation (CLF), demonstrates how targeted support can create sustainable livelihood opportunities and improve the quality of life for rural households.

Last year, TRLM Pecharthal Block identified five needy SHG families and provided them with vending carts to support income-generating activities. The objective was to enable the beneficiaries to establish small businesses and become financially independent through self-employment.

The results of the initiative have been highly encouraging. All five beneficiaries are currently operating their vending carts successfully and have established reliable sources of income for their families. According to officials, each vending cart generates daily sales ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹3,000, making it the primary source of livelihood for the respective households.

The steady earnings have helped the families meet their daily expenses, improve financial security, and reduce economic vulnerabilities. What began as a small intervention has now become a sustainable income-generating model that is positively influencing the lives of the beneficiaries.

To ensure accountability and foster a sense of ownership, each beneficiary contributes ₹600 per month as rent to the Samriddhi CLF. This mechanism not only promotes responsible utilization of the assets but also strengthens community participation in livelihood development initiatives.

Officials associated with the programme noted that the impact of the vending cart initiative extends beyond financial gains. The beneficiaries have reported increased confidence, improved decision-making abilities, and greater self-reliance. The success of the project highlights the importance of practical and grassroots-level interventions in empowering rural communities.

The initiative stands as an example of how strategic livelihood support can uplift vulnerable families and create long-term economic opportunities. By focusing on sustainable income generation and community participation, TRLM continues to play a crucial role in strengthening rural livelihoods across Tripura.

As the success story of these five SHG families demonstrates, even a small intervention can bring about a significant and lasting change in the lives of rural households, paving the way for inclusive growth and economic empowerment in the state’s villages.
