The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is playing a transformative role in empowering women-led entrepreneurship across the state by providing financial assistance, institutional support, skill development, and improved access to bank credit. Through its sustained efforts, the mission is helping rural women become financially independent while creating employment opportunities and strengthening local economies.
The impact of TRLM is becoming increasingly visible through the inspiring success stories of women entrepreneurs who have successfully established and expanded their businesses with the mission’s support. These achievements underline the importance of government-backed livelihood initiatives in promoting inclusive economic development and self-reliance in rural communities.
One such inspiring entrepreneur is Swarnali Paul, a member of the Perona Self Help Group (SHG) operating under the Jubarajnagar Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) in North Tripura. Swarnali has successfully built a thriving business engaged in fabrication, interior printing, and mattress manufacturing. Her entrepreneurial journey received a significant boost through financial assistance provided under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.
She received Rs. 9.95 lakh through Community-Based Organisation (CBO) funding, along with an additional Rs. 15 lakh in bank credit. This financial support enabled her to expand her enterprise systematically, invest in better infrastructure, and increase production capacity. Today, her business generates a monthly income ranging from Rs. 95,000 to Rs. 1 lakh while providing employment opportunities to three women associated with Self Help Groups, demonstrating the mission’s broader social and economic impact.
Another remarkable example comes from Sepahijala district, where Bina Rani Sarkar, a member of the Mangal Deep SHG under the Mohanbhog BMMU, has successfully established a flourishing bakery and confectionery enterprise. With the financial assistance provided by TRLM, she transformed her small venture into a profitable business.
Bina received Rs. 40,000 through CBO funding and Rs. 8.98 lakh in bank credit, enabling her to significantly expand her operations. Her bakery now earns a monthly income between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.5 lakh while creating employment opportunities for three fellow SHG members. Her journey reflects how timely financial assistance and institutional support can transform rural livelihoods and encourage women to become successful entrepreneurs.
According to officials, these success stories are shining examples of the effectiveness of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission in promoting financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and sustainable rural development. By supporting women through access to affordable credit, capacity building, and institutional guidance, TRLM is helping create resilient rural enterprises that contribute to household income as well as local employment.
