Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday said the trade with neighbouring Bangladesh got increased to over Rs. 733 crore while Tripura also registered a rise in the export business with other states. Deb was speaking in the inaugural ceremony of 32nd Industries and Commerce Fair at Hapania International Fair Ground.
The fair will continue till March 17. This year, total 249 stalls are participating in the fair. The figure included 84 government stalls, 90 local stalls, 15 international stalls and 64 stalls from outside Tripura.
The Chief Minister said a business-friendly atmosphere is now there in the state following which the industrialists are bow showing interest for investment.
Industries and Commerce minister Manoj Kanti Deb, who also attended the programme, said the government is working making efforts to the make the youths and the state Atmanirbhar.
Tripura Industrial Development Corporation chairman Tinku Roy said, one trader from Tripura among 30 Indian businessmen got opportunity to join the international fair at Dubai. He said, the state is now seeing an increase in the export business.
Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner to Agartala Md. Arif Mohammad, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, MLA Badharghat Mimi Majumder, Tea corporation chairman Santosh Saha, chairman of Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Balai Goswami, Sabhadhipati of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Antara Sarkar Deb, director of Industries and Commerce department Swapna Debnath and others were present. The welcome address was delivered by secretary P.K. Goyal.
