Tripura’s Sanchita Nath from a remote North Tripura village will represent the state at National Youth Festival 2026 in New Delhi. Selected under Ministry of Youth Affairs, she will compete in public speaking at Bharat Mandapam.

A young woman from a remote village in North Tripura has brought pride to her state by earning selection to represent Tripura at the national-level Youth Festival 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi. The achievement highlights the growing presence of rural youth on national platforms and underlines the impact of government-backed youth engagement initiatives.

Sanchita Nath (22), a resident of Kadamtala gram panchayat under Dharmanagar subdivision, has been selected to participate in the prestigious national youth event after emerging first in both district-level and state-level competitions. These competitions were organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, as part of its ongoing efforts to nurture leadership and talent among young Indians.

Coming from an economically underprivileged family, Sanchita’s journey has been marked by perseverance and determination. Despite limited resources, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill in public speaking, cultural activities, and youth-centric debates since her school days. At the national festival, she will compete in the public speaking category, representing Tripura among participants from across the country.

The Youth Festival 2026 will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from January 9 to January 12. The event, officially titled “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue” (VBYLD), aims to bring together young leaders, artists, speakers, and cultural performers from different states to engage in discussions on nation-building, leadership, and social responsibility. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event, further adding to its national significance.

Around 40 participants from Tripura are set to take part in various categories, including speech, art, music, and cultural performances. Officials from the state Youth Affairs and Sports Department stated that the selected participants will depart for New Delhi on January 5. Before their departure, Chief Minister Manik Saha and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy are expected to interact with the delegation and encourage them.

Sanchita is not new to national platforms. She has previously represented Tripura at the National Youth Parliament Festival in New Delhi and also participated in a national youth festival held in Nashik, Maharashtra, where she competed in the speech category. Her consistent performance at such forums has earned her recognition among youth organisations and cultural groups in the region.

Her latest selection has been widely welcomed in her home area. The Kadamtala-Kurti Mandal Yuva Morcha felicitated Sanchita and extended best wishes ahead of the national competition. Speaking on the occasion, Mandal Yuva Morcha president Amitabh Nath said that her achievement has become a source of inspiration for young people across North Tripura.

“Sanchita’s success proves that talent can emerge from even the most remote corners when given opportunity and support. Despite economic hardships, she has excelled in public speaking and cultural competitions since childhood,” he said.

Local residents and youth leaders believe that Sanchita’s journey will motivate many young girls from rural and underdeveloped areas to pursue their dreams and actively participate in national-level platforms.
