A remarkable wave of compassion and solidarity has swept across Tripura as people from different walks of life come together to support Manashree Debnath, a young girl battling a rare and life-threatening illness. The growing humanitarian campaign has received a major boost with the intervention of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, and several concerned citizens who have stepped forward to assist the family during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.
The appeal for financial assistance gained momentum after Manashree’s family highlighted the enormous expenses associated with her advanced medical treatment. As the costs continue to rise beyond the family’s capacity, support from the government, elected representatives, organizations, and ordinary citizens has become crucial in ensuring that she receives the care she urgently needs.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha confirmed that Manashree and her parents had approached him through the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme on June 24. Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister acknowledged the seriousness of the case and assured that efforts were underway to identify possible avenues of assistance.
“We are trying, we are looking into how she can be helped, how this matter can be solved,” the Chief Minister stated, reiterating the government’s commitment to exploring all available options to support the young patient and her family.
In a significant gesture of support, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee visited Manashree’s residence in Badharghat on Sunday. During the visit, he interacted with family members, assessed her condition, and discussed the challenges they are facing in arranging funds for treatment.
The MP extended personal financial assistance and assured the family of his full cooperation in facilitating advanced medical care. Recognizing the urgent need for additional resources, Bhattacharjee also provided the family with an application form for assistance under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). He advised them to complete the necessary formalities at the earliest so that the application could be processed without delay.
The family expressed deep gratitude for the MP’s intervention and support. They also appealed to the public to keep Manashree in their prayers and continue extending assistance during this critical phase of her treatment journey.
The campaign has also inspired members of the local community to contribute. Demonstrating collective responsibility and empathy, employees of Diyan Engineering Works pooled resources and contributed Rs 30,000 towards Manashree’s treatment. Representatives from the organization personally visited her residence and handed over the contribution to the family.
