Tripura innovator Pragyat Prasun unveils AI-powered plant disease detection system at AI Summit 2026, promising safer, smarter, and sustainable farming through early crop disease diagnosis, reduced pesticide use, and improved agricultural productivity across India and beyond.

A young innovator from Tripura has captured national attention with a breakthrough that could transform agriculture. Pragyat Prasun, a robotics enthusiast and multiple world record holder from Badharghat, unveiled his AI-powered plant disease detection system at the prestigious AI Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The innovation combines advanced computer vision and machine learning algorithms to detect crop diseases at their earliest stages. By simply analyzing images of plant leaves, stems, and fruits, the system can identify patterns and symptoms that may not be visible to the human eye. According to Prasun, early detection can prevent widespread crop damage and significantly reduce farmers’ dependency on chemical pesticides.

“By detecting diseases early, farmers can take preventive measures that could save entire harvests and reduce the need for excessive pesticide use,” Prasun said during his presentation at the summit. His remarks drew praise from agricultural scientists, technology experts, and policymakers present at the event.

A Game-Changer for Sustainable Agriculture

India’s agricultural sector faces mounting challenges, including climate change, pest outbreaks, soil degradation, and rising input costs. Prasun’s AI-driven system addresses these concerns by offering a data-driven, affordable solution. With early diagnosis, farmers can apply targeted treatments instead of blanket pesticide spraying, thereby lowering production costs and minimizing environmental harm.

Experts at the summit noted that such technology could play a critical role in strengthening food security. By protecting crop yields and promoting sustainable farming practices, AI-based solutions can help small and marginal farmers safeguard their livelihoods.

The innovation has already generated interest from agri-tech companies, research institutions, and government agencies. It aligns closely with India’s broader push toward digital agriculture and smart farming initiatives.

A Track Record of Practical Innovation

This latest achievement adds to Prasun’s growing portfolio of socially impactful inventions. He previously gained national recognition for developing a sewage-cleaning robot that secured first place at a National Science Exhibition. The robot was designed to address hazardous manual cleaning practices and improve sanitation safety.

Beyond agriculture and sanitation, Prasun is working on futuristic solutions such as an ice-based cooling system for AI data centers to reduce energy consumption, and a firefighting drone designed to tackle blazes in high-rise buildings. His projects consistently reflect a focus on solving real-world problems through technology.

Recognition at the Highest Levels

Prasun’s accomplishments have earned him widespread recognition. He holds five world records, two entries in the India Book of Records, and one Asia record in yoga. His diverse achievements underline his commitment to excellence across technology, academics, and physical discipline.

He has also interacted with the prominent national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and the  Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. These engagements have positioned him as a rising voice in India’s rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem.

Innovation with a Global Vision

“Technology should serve humanity by solving real-world problems,” Prasun emphasized. “Whether it’s cleaning sewage, cooling data centers, fighting fires, or protecting crops, the AI has the power to make life better for everyone.”
