Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed his satisfaction at the way Tripura Police was handling the law and order situation in the state as well it their relentless efforts to make the state addiction free.
While delivering speech at the inaugural ceremony of the Tripura Police Week the Chief Minister dwelt extensively on the ruling government’s initiatives to strengthen the police force and ensure that they did not face manpower shortage or technological supports. He said while the state government was in the process of appointing about 3,400 personnel in the Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles. What was most important, the Chief Minister said, the state government had given priority for the women in the appointments.
The Chief Minister, however, stressed on the awareness programme of the police to make them more accessible to the common people.
On the occasion of the Police Week- 2022, various awards for achievements in various fields of police works were also given away..
Twelve trophies were awarded among the achievers followed by the Police Week Parade at Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium, AD Nagar on Monday. Eight contingents of Police, TSR and Home Guards had participated in the ceremonial Parade.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had handed over the trophies and certificates in presence of DGP V.S. Yadav and other senior police officers.
While the Life Time Achievement award was given to Debjan Chakma, a retired TPS officer, the Best Clerical Staff award was given to Bikramjit Sen, LD Clark, PHQ and Kausar Ali, Nb/Sub (Clerk) of 9th-Bn TSR has been awarded as Best Clerical Staff from TSR Battalion.
SDPO Jirania Suman Majumdar was awarded as Policeman of the Year- 2021 while Suman Singha, I/C Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime was awarded as Best Investigator.
The Best Police Station in use of Technology award was given to West Agartala Police Station, Best Police Station for Beat System awarded was given to Jirania Police Station, Best Police Station award went to Mungiakami Police Station, Best District for Beat System was awarded to North Tripura District, Best Unit of Tripura Police in the use of Technology award was given to Traffic Unit, 10th-Bn TSR was awarded as best TSR Battalion and the Best District award was given to Sepahijala District.
IG Law & Order Arindam Nath was also given DGP’s Disc on the occasion.
Besides, 37 officers/ men were awarded with DGP’s Commendation Disc. The Prize distribution ceremony was followed by inauguration of Blood Donation camp and Photo gallery on Rashtriya Ekta Divas- 2021. Total 117 Police and TSR personnel voluntarily donated blood in the camp.
In view of the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state government, the programmes were conducted following all the Covid protocols and some modifications were also made in the Police Week 2022 programmes.
According to a police press release, Art and Craft exhibition at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Run for fun program and inauguration of the Crime Branch building were postponed. The proposed sit and draw programme will be held online.
