Tripura launches State Innovation Mission (SIM–Tripura) at Hapania to strengthen startup ecosystem, boost entrepreneurship, and align with NITI Aayog reforms. T-NEST incubation arm inaugurated to accelerate innovation, private investment, and youth-driven economic growth.

The Government of Tripura is set to formally launch the State Innovation Mission – Tripura (SIM–Tripura) today at 11:30 AM at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania. The initiative marks a significant milestone in the state’s push toward establishing a structured, outcome-driven innovation ecosystem aligned with national development priorities.

Positioned as the “Innovation Block” under the State Support Mission framework of NITI Aayog, SIM–Tripura aims to integrate the state’s innovation roadmap with the broader goals of cooperative federalism, governance reforms, and ecosystem strengthening. The Mission reflects Tripura’s commitment to transitioning from fragmented, scheme-based startup support to a comprehensive and professionally managed institutional architecture.

A key highlight of the launch event will be the inauguration of T-NEST (Tripura: Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups), the incubation and acceleration arm of SIM–Tripura. T-NEST is designed to support startups through structured, cohort-based programmes, sector-specific accelerator tracks, mentorship networks, and investor engagement platforms. The platform is expected to provide young entrepreneurs with access to policy sandboxes, government pilot facilitation, and funding opportunities.

The programme will witness the presence of prominent national policymakers, including Suman Bery, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, and Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. Also attending are V. K. Saraswat, Member of NITI Aayog, and Rajib Kumar Sen, Programme Director at NITI Aayog. The Chief Minister of Tripura will preside over the event, underscoring the state government’s strong commitment to fostering innovation-led growth.

Senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Secretaries of various departments, Heads of Departments, academicians, and students from colleges and technical institutions across the state are expected to attend. Startup stalls showcasing innovative ventures from Tripura will also be displayed, highlighting local talent and emerging business ideas.

In recent years, Tripura has recorded steady growth in startup registrations, increased youth interest in entrepreneurship, and improved digital governance outreach. The state’s diaspora engagement platform, “PrabashiTripurabashi,” is expected to play a crucial role in connecting global professionals of Tripura origin with the local innovation ecosystem. Through mentorship, knowledge exchange, and investment facilitation, the diaspora initiative is anticipated to strengthen SIM–Tripura’s impact.

Institutionally, SIM–Tripura is anchored by the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) under the Good Governance Department, which will function as the State Nodal Agency. TIFT will oversee programme design, fund management, partnerships, monitoring, and impact evaluation to ensure measurable outcomes and sustainable growth.
