The Tripura Legislative Assembly accepted the budget proposals of Rs. 26892.67 crore on Thursday, the last day of the session.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma who also holds the Finance portfolio had tabled the Budget in the House on March 17, the first day of the Budget session.

In the second half of the session, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath, Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Janajati Welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and SC Welfare minister Bhagaban Chandra Das opposed the cut motion moved by the opposition bench.

The Opposition MLAs- Bhanulal Saha, Ratan Bhowmik, Sudhan Das and Shyamal Chakraborty held discussion on the cut motion on the Budget 2022-23.

The Education minister said, Tripura ranks first among the North-eastern states in terms of financial discipline, according to the central government. Tripura is currently in the grade one in the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

According to Nath, the present government formed placement cells in every college through which several students already got jobs in different places.

The Agriculture minister said, the state government took several initiatives to double the farmers’ income. He said, the government is distributing Agri equipment among the farmers and encouraging them towards maize and maskalai cultivation for more benefit.

According to the Agriculture minister, 28 Krishak Bandhu Kendras have already been opened while nine more are ready for inauguration. He also said in the House, the state government is procuring paddy from local farmers directly at Minimum Support Price.
