Tripura Gramin Bank officers and employees jointly demand pending service benefits, recruitment, transfer policy reforms, staff welfare benefits, and implementation of the Ninth Joint Note and Twelfth Bipartite Settlement during a press conference in Agartala ahead of their joint conference on August 8-9.

The Tripura Gramin Bank Officers’ Federation and the Tripura Gramin Bank Employees’ Federation on Tuesday jointly urged the bank management and authorities to address a five-point charter of demands, including implementation of pending service benefits, recruitment to vacant posts, staff welfare measures and revision of the existing transfer policy.

The demands were announced during a joint press conference held at the Head Office of Tripura Gramin Bank in Agartala. Leaders of both federations emphasized that officers and employees have been serving the institution with dedication for many years and deserve timely implementation of their legitimate service-related benefits.

The federations also announced that their first-ever joint conference will be held on August 8 and 9 at a private hotel in Agartala. The event is expected to bring together officers and employees from different branches across the state to discuss organizational issues, employee welfare and the future roadmap of the bank.

Among those present at the press conference were Federation Chairperson Biplab Saha, Tripura Gramin Bank Officers’ Federation President David Debbarma, General Secretary Tamal Debnath, Tripura Gramin Bank Employees’ Federation President Anwesha Das, and General Secretary Souvik Nag.

Speaking at the press conference, General Secretary Tamal Debnath informed that the open session of the joint conference will be held on August 8 from 5 pm, and all officers and employees of Tripura Gramin Bank have been invited to attend the programme.

The federations placed a detailed five-point charter of demands, highlighting issues that they believe require immediate attention from the bank management and the concerned authorities.

Their primary demand is the immediate implementation of all pending financial and non-financial benefits under the Ninth Joint Note and the Twelfth Bipartite Settlement. According to the federation leaders, these benefits have remained pending despite being applicable to employees and officers.

Another significant demand is to ensure that officers and employees of Tripura Gramin Bank receive allowances, special facilities and staff welfare benefits comparable to those provided to employees of the sponsor bank. They argued that equal treatment in welfare measures would improve employee morale and enhance workplace satisfaction.

The federations also urged the authorities to discontinue the deputation of staff from the sponsor bank, citing the provisions of the Regional Rural Banks Act. They maintained that Tripura Gramin Bank should continue to function with its independent identity while strengthening its own workforce.

Recruitment to vacant Office Assistant posts also figured prominently in the charter of demands. Federation leaders said filling vacant positions is essential for improving operational efficiency, reducing workload on existing employees and ensuring better customer service across the bank’s branch network.

In addition, the employee bodies sought revision of the current transfer policy in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Financial Services. They stressed that the revised policy should promote transparency, fairness and a more humane approach while considering employees’ personal and professional circumstances.

The federations expressed confidence that the bank management would respond positively to the issues raised. They stated that their demands are genuine and aimed at improving employee welfare as well as strengthening the functioning of Tripura Gramin Bank.

Appealing for constructive dialogue, the leaders said they remain hopeful that discussions with the management will lead to an early resolution of the pending issues. They urged the authorities to take prompt action on the five-point charter of demands and ensure that officers and employees receive the benefits and policy reforms they have been seeking.
