Agartala, Nov 14: Tripura government is working with the view of increase production of crops through scientific cultivation methods, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Monday.

Dr. Saha, who inaugurated the two-storied administrative building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Rankang in Amarpur of Gomati district, said his government is sincere towards doubling the farmers’ income. He expressed hope that the new facility would largely benefit the local farmers.

Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said, the average monthly income of the famers was only Rs. 6000 before 2018. Now, the farmers’ monthly income has increased to Rs. 12000 while the government is working to increase the figure to Rs. 14,000.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state is working to set up this facility in every part of the state, Dr. Saha said.

The Chief Minister also spoke on the various development initiatives of the state government.

Agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the state government took initiative to set up Krishi Vigyan Kendras in all eight districts of the state while the fifth KVK facility has been inaugurated at Amarpur. He said, the state government is working for the financial growth of the farmers.

Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Das, MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department- Saradindu Chowdhury, District Magistrate of Gomati- Govekar Mayur Ratilal, district police chief Ajit pratap Singh and others were present in the inaugural ceremony.

In the programme, the Chief Minister distributed power tillers and other Agri equipment.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister chaired a district-level administrative meeting at the conference hall of SDM office, Amarpur and held discussions on communication, electricity and drinking water. He passed a direction to the officials concerned for timely completion of the on-going works.

Along with the Agriculture minister and Janajati Welfare minister, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad Swapan Adhikar, MLA Sindhuchandra Jamatia and other officials joined the meeting.

Earlier on the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated Gomati district-level ‘Prati Ghare Sushasan’ mela at Rajarshi Kalakshetra. The two ministers along with others were present.
