Baikhora, South Tripura, August 6: In a major boost to policing infrastructure and public service delivery in South Tripura district, the state government has sanctioned Rs 60.84 crore for the construction of a new building for the Baikhora Police Station. The project, which has been described as a long-standing demand of local residents, is expected to significantly strengthen law-and-order management and improve facilities for police personnel and the public alike.

On Wednesday, Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, who also represents the Jolaibari Assembly constituency as its MLA, visited the proposed site for the construction of the new police station building. During the visit, he reviewed preliminary plans and held discussions with officials regarding various aspects of the upcoming project.

The inspection was attended by Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tapas Dutta, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bappi Debbarma, Officer-in-Charge of Baikhora Police Station Bishnu Chandra Das, officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), and other concerned authorities.

According to officials, the Chief Minister recently approved and sanctioned Rs 60.84 crore for the ambitious infrastructure project. The new police station building is being planned with the objective of modernizing policing facilities and enhancing the efficiency of law enforcement services in the Baikhora region under the Jolaibari Assembly constituency.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the proposed site, Minister Noatia expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for approving the substantial allocation. He stated that the existing police station building is old and requires modernization to meet current administrative and operational needs.

“It has been a long-pending demand from the people of the constituency. Considering the genuine sentiments and needs of the local residents, the Chief Minister sanctioned a whopping sum of around Rs 60 crore for the construction of a new building for the police station. I believe that once the new infrastructure is completed, the entire policing system in the area will benefit significantly,” Noatia said.

The minister further informed that construction work would begin after the completion of all necessary administrative and procedural formalities. He added that the state government remains committed to infrastructure development initiatives aimed at improving public services and strengthening administrative institutions across the constituency.

Officials present during the visit discussed site selection, project planning, and other preliminary matters related to the proposed construction. The project is expected to include modern facilities that will help police personnel perform their duties more effectively while ensuring better service delivery for residents.

Local residents have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the new police station building will contribute to improved security, faster public assistance, and more efficient law enforcement operations in the region.
