Tripura government is considering the adoption of the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission, said Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Tuesday in the assembly.
Speaking in response to a starred question submitted by Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy, the Finance Minister clarified that while the Government of India had announced its decision to implement the revised pay matrix of the Eighth Central Pay Commission on January 17, no state government has yet adopted it. “We are also interested in adopting the recommendations, but the decision will be taken at the right time,” he said.
Roy also highlighted that the state government had submitted a comprehensive financial report to the Sixteenth Finance Commission, earning appreciation for its financial management despite being a revenue deficit state.
DA Hike and Employment Initiatives
Describing the recent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) as a major achievement, the minister stated that efforts were ongoing to bridge the gap between DA for central and state government employees.
He also announced that in the last two financial years, the government had approved the creation of 6,009 new posts, while the recruitment process for filling up 12,338 vacant positions was underway. “The process of filling up these posts is expected to be completed soon,” he added.
