Tripura government announces a major administrative reshuffle, assigning new roles to IAS and TCS officers across Agartala and several districts. The changes include new postings in Urban Development, OBC Welfare, Handloom and other departments, effective immediately.
The Government of Tripura has announced a major administrative reshuffle involving several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers. The changes, notified by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department, are effective immediately and include new postings, transfers and additional responsibilities across several departments and districts.
The latest reshuffle brings a number of newly trained IAS officers into key sub-divisional assignments while experienced officers have been moved to senior responsibilities in Agartala and district headquarters. The move is aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and ensuring effective functioning of important government departments.
Among the major changes, Kuntal Das, IAS, Special Secretary of the OBC Welfare and Industries & Commerce (Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture) departments, has been relieved of her additional responsibilities as Director of OBC Welfare and Managing Director of the Tripura OBC Welfare Co-operative Development Corporation.
Tamal Majumdar, IAS, Special Secretary in the Home (Fire & Emergency Services) Department, has also been relieved of his additional charge as Director of Urban Development. He will continue to serve as Director of Fire & Emergency Services and Special Secretary, Urban Development.
A significant change has been made in the Urban Development Department with Nirmal Kumar, IAS, currently serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Khowai, being transferred to Agartala as Director of Urban Development. He will additionally take charge as Director of OBC Welfare and Managing Director of the Tripura OBC Welfare Co-operative Development Corporation.
Following Nirmal Kumar’s transfer, Rimita Saha, IAS, who has completed Phase-II training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, will take over as SDM of Khowai. She will also serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Khowai Municipal Council.
In another important posting, Ashis Biswas, TCS Gr-I, SDM of Kanchanpur, has been transferred to Agartala and appointed as Joint Director of Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture. His responsibilities at Kanchanpur will be assumed by Thite Shubham Bhagvan, IAS, following completion of Phase-II training at LBSNAA.
The reshuffle also affects Santirbazar and Dhalai district administration. Tarun Kanti Sarkar, TCS Gr-I, currently SDM of Santirbazar and CEO of Santirbazar Municipal Council, has been transferred to Ambassa as Senior Deputy Collector in the office of the District Magistrate and Collector, Dhalai.
His post at Santirbazar will be taken over by Deepika Gautam, IAS, who has completed Phase-II training at LBSNAA. She will serve as SDM of Santirbazar and CEO of the Santirbazar Municipal Council.
Similarly, N.S. Chakma, TCS Gr-I, SDM of Kumarghat, has been transferred to Agartala as Joint Director of the General Administration (Printing & Stationery) Department. His responsibilities in Kumarghat will be taken over by Shubham Meena, IAS, who has completed Phase-II training at LBSNAA and will also serve as CEO of the Kumarghat Municipal Council.
The administrative order, signed by Deputy Secretary H. Debbarma, reflects the state government’s efforts to reorganise key administrative responsibilities and improve service delivery. The placement of recently trained IAS officers in sub-divisional positions is also expected to provide fresh administrative leadership at the district level.

The reshuffle covers multiple departments, including Urban Development, OBC Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture, General Administration, Fire & Emergency Services and district administration. With the new assignments taking immediate effect, the officers concerned are expected to assume their respective responsibilities as part of the government’s broader administrative restructuring.
