Reaffirming the government’s commitment to women empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and grassroots development, Tripura Governor Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Sunday undertook a series of visits to Self Help Group (SHG)-led livelihood initiatives in Jirania before attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Khumulwng, in West Tripura.

The Governor began his visit at Roshni Cluster Level Federation (CLF), Jirania, where he interacted with women beneficiaries associated with various Self Help Groups. Appreciating their dedication and achievements, he lauded the role of women in driving community-led development and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

During the interaction, the Governor encouraged the SHG members to continue strengthening their economic activities through collective efforts, innovation, and financial independence. He observed that Self Help Groups have emerged as an effective platform for empowering rural women, improving household incomes, and promoting inclusive socio-economic development across Tripura.

As part of his tour, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu also visited the Dipabali SHG Bamboo Unit, where he reviewed bamboo-based livelihood activities undertaken by the members. He appreciated the group’s efforts in promoting value-added bamboo products while preserving Tripura’s traditional craftsmanship.

The Governor praised the women entrepreneurs for transforming locally available bamboo resources into sustainable income-generating opportunities. He encouraged them to continue enhancing product quality and expanding market linkages to further strengthen rural entrepreneurship and employment generation in the state.

Continuing his visit, the Governor inspected the Duckery Unit operated by beneficiary Sova Debbarma. He interacted with the beneficiary to understand the functioning of the livelihood initiative and reviewed the progress made under the self-employment programme.

During the interaction, he emphasized that small-scale livelihood projects such as poultry, duckery, bamboo handicrafts, and other rural enterprises play a significant role in ensuring self-reliance among rural families. He reiterated the importance of supporting such initiatives to achieve inclusive rural development while creating sustainable economic opportunities at the grassroots level.

The Governor’s visit highlighted the state’s continued focus on empowering Self Help Groups, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and strengthening community-based development through active participation of women and local entrepreneurs.

Later in the day, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Khumulwng, in West Tripura.

The programme witnessed the participation of students, teachers, government officials, and members of the local administration. West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar also accompanied the Governor during the event.

Following the broadcast of the Prime Minister’s monthly radio programme, the Governor interacted with the students and encouraged them to remain committed to their studies while contributing positively to society. He urged the young learners to uphold the values of discipline, responsibility, and hard work, stating that the youth are the driving force behind India’s future development.

The Governor observed that initiatives like Mann Ki Baat provide valuable insights into national development, social awareness, innovation, environmental conservation, and citizen participation. He said such programmes inspire young minds to actively participate in nation-building while fostering civic responsibility and social harmony.
