Ministry of Finance of the Union government (the Department of Expenditure) today released an amount of Rs. 1348.10 crore to six States including Rs 14 crore for Tripura for providing grants to Urban Local Bodies. Apart from that In accordance with the Budget announcement, the Government is emphasizing Capex allocation to expedite growth. To this end, Ministry of Finance will release fund for Tripura.
The States to which grants were released on Friday are Jharkhand Rs. 112.20 crore, Karnataka Rs. 375 crore, Kerala Rs. 168 crore, Odisha Rs.411 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs.267.90 crore and Tripura Rs.14 crore. The grants released are meant for Non-Million Plus cities (NMPCs) including Cantonment Boards.
The 15th Finance Commission in its report for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 has divided the Urban Local Bodies into two categories– Million-Plus urban agglomerations, cities excluding Delhi and Srinagar, and all other cities and towns with less than one million population Non-Million Plus cities.
Apart from that In accordance with the Budget announcement, the Government is emphasizing Capex allocation to expedite growth. To this end, Ministry of Finance will release fund for Tripura.
Chief Secretary of Tripura, Kumar Alok tweeted, “As per budget announcement Finance Ministry will release additional central assistance of approximately Rs 600 crore to Tripura for capital expenditure. We hope to mobilise more funds in next Financial Year”.
Meantime, a PIB release said, Ministry of Finance on Friday released an amount of Rs. 1348.10 crore to 6 States including Tripura for providing grants to Urban Local Bodies. For Tripura, Finance Ministry released grants of Rs 14 crore. In the current financial year, Tripura received total Rs 72 crore.
