Tripura strengthens global partnerships under Destination Tripura 2026 through diplomatic engagements with Jordan and the Philippines. The initiative aims to attract foreign investment, boost tourism, IT, agriculture, MSMEs, startups, and sustainable development while positioning Tripura as a strategic gateway to Southeast Asia and India’s Act East Policy.

Tripura has intensified its diplomatic outreach efforts under the ambitious Destination Tripura 2026 initiative. The state government is actively engaging with foreign missions to showcase Tripura’s growing economic potential and strategic importance as a gateway to Southeast Asia.

As part of this initiative, a high-level delegation led by Deepak Kumar, Managing Director of the Tripura State Industrial Development Corporation (TSIDC) and Director of Industries and Commerce, held separate meetings with representatives from the Embassy of Jordan and the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi. The discussions were organized in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and focused on strengthening international cooperation across multiple sectors.

During the meeting with Ambassador Yousef Abdelghani of Jordan, discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in tourism, food processing, agriculture, healthcare, and education. Both sides explored opportunities for creating new investment channels and business partnerships that could contribute to economic growth in Tripura while providing Jordanian enterprises access to emerging markets in India’s Northeast region.

Officials noted that tourism and agriculture emerged as key areas of mutual interest. The dialogue also highlighted the potential for knowledge exchange, technological collaboration, and sustainable development initiatives that could benefit communities in both regions.

In a separate engagement with Melissa Anne Telan, Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Philippines, the focus shifted toward technology-driven sectors including information technology, digital innovation, startups, skill development, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and tourism. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to fostering innovation-led growth and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and capacity building.

During both meetings, Deepak Kumar highlighted Tripura’s investor-friendly policies, improving infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and strategic geographical location. He emphasized that the state serves as a crucial link between India and Southeast Asia, making it an attractive destination for international investors seeking opportunities in emerging markets.

Kumar also extended invitations to both diplomatic missions to participate in the upcoming Destination Tripura Roadshow 2026, scheduled to be held in Agartala on July 9 and 10. The event is expected to bring together investors, policymakers, industry leaders, and international stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and discuss pathways for sustainable economic development.

Government officials believe that the ongoing diplomatic outreach campaign will play a crucial role in attracting foreign direct investment, generating employment opportunities, and strengthening Tripura’s integration with global markets. The initiative is also aligned with India’s Act East Policy, which seeks to deepen economic and strategic engagement with countries in Southeast Asia and beyond.
