Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha slams Tipra Motha Party as violent, urges voters to support BJP candidate Nirmal Debbarma, promises corruption-free governance and highlights “Triple-Engine” development model ahead of crucial Takarjala-Jampuijala election.
In a sharp political attack ahead of the upcoming elections in Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday criticized the Tipra Motha Party, branding it as the “Tipra Marpith Party” and accusing it of promoting violence in politics.
Addressing a large public rally in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Nirmal Debbarma in the Takarjala-Jampuijala constituency, Dr. Saha alleged that the party “understands nothing but violence” and has redefined the meaning of political engagement in the state.
The Chief Minister further claimed that in certain regions, alleged miscreants linked to the party had resorted to firing, raising serious concerns about law and order. Without citing specific incidents, he asserted that such actions undermine democratic values and create an atmosphere of fear among voters.
Highlighting the BJP’s stance, Dr. Saha emphasized that the party remains committed to democratic principles and rejects any form of political violence. “We believe in governance through development and public trust, not intimidation,” he said, reinforcing BJP’s campaign narrative in the region.
Drawing a comparison with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, the Chief Minister alleged that both parties follow similar tactics aimed at instilling fear among the public. He accused them of engaging in what he described as “politics of violence” to influence electoral outcomes.
In a strong show of confidence, Dr. Saha declared that the BJP would establish a “Triple-Engine” government in the Autonomous District Council (ADC), suggesting seamless coordination between the central, state, and local administrative levels. He asserted that such a governance model would accelerate development and ensure better delivery of welfare schemes.
The Chief Minister also assured the public that any irregularities or corruption would be thoroughly addressed once the BJP secures power. “We are committed to transparency and accountability. Every act of corruption will be investigated and corrected,” he said.
The rally witnessed significant participation, particularly from Janajati women, reflecting strong grassroots mobilization. Among the notable attendees was Supriya Das Dutta, along with several local leaders and party workers.

Urging voters to support the BJP in the upcoming polls scheduled for April 12, Dr. Saha appealed for a decisive mandate to ensure continued development and stability in the region. He reiterated that the party remains unfazed by threats or intimidation, stating, “The guardian of BJP is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and we are not afraid.”
Following the rally, the Chief Minister welcomed 199 voters who formally joined the BJP, marking a symbolic boost to the party’s campaign momentum in the constituency.
