Tripura DGP Anurag reviews election security preparedness for TTAADC polls and Dharmanagar by-election, emphasizing vigilance, coordination, and deployment of CRPF and Assam Rifles to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections across the state.

As Tripura gears up for the upcoming TTAADC elections and the Dharmanagar by-election, Director General of Police Anurag conducted a comprehensive review of statewide security arrangements on Monday. The high-level meeting aimed to ensure a robust law-and-order framework and seamless coordination among multiple security agencies ahead of the crucial polls.

Held in a hybrid format, the meeting witnessed participation from senior officials across the police hierarchy, including Inspector Generals, District Superintendents of Police, Commandants of Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and Sub-Divisional Police Officers. The discussions focused on strengthening election preparedness, enhancing inter-agency coordination, and ensuring a peaceful voting environment across the state.

Officials present at the meeting revealed that the DGP laid strong emphasis on maintaining heightened vigilance, particularly in sensitive and vulnerable areas. He directed officers to deploy rapid response teams, intensify patrolling, and maintain strict surveillance to prevent any untoward incidents during the election period. The overarching goal, he stressed, is to guarantee free, fair, and transparent elections while safeguarding voters and polling personnel.

To reinforce security, personnel from the state police, TSR, Central Reserve Police Force, and Assam Rifles will be deployed across key locations. These forces will work in tandem to ensure law and order is maintained, particularly in identified sensitive zones.

The review meeting is being seen as a significant step toward boosting public confidence in the electoral process. Authorities believe that strict security measures and proactive planning will play a vital role in preventing disruptions and ensuring smooth conduct of the elections.

In a parallel development, a separate coordination meeting was held in Khowai district between Assam Rifles officials and the district administration. The meeting, attended by the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, focused on evaluating the prevailing security situation in the bordering district.

During the discussion, officials identified vulnerable pockets requiring enhanced monitoring and emphasized the importance of timely intelligence sharing and joint operational strategies. Mechanisms for rapid response and mutual support among agencies were also outlined to tackle any contingencies during the election period.
