Tripura DGP Anurag visits Kanchanpur to review law and order and assess border security. Inspects BSF camp, TSR battalion, and police stations, emphasizing vigilance, coordination, and proactive policing along the India–Bangladesh border.
Director General of Police (DGP) of Tripura, Anurag, visited Kanchanpur sub-division on Sunday to conduct a comprehensive review of the law and order situation and assess security preparedness along the sensitive India–Bangladesh international border. The visit comes amid continued emphasis on strengthening border vigilance and inter-agency coordination in frontier areas of the state.
During his tour, the DGP inspected the Khanthalang Border Security Force (BSF) camp, located close to the international border. The inspection focused on evaluating operational readiness, deployment patterns, and coordination mechanisms between the state police and central security forces. Officials briefed the DGP on routine border surveillance activities, intelligence sharing systems, and measures in place to prevent cross-border crimes such as smuggling and illegal infiltration.
The DGP also visited the headquarters of the 13th Tripura State Rifles (TSR) Battalion at Subhashnagar, where he reviewed internal security arrangements and administrative functioning. Interactions with battalion officials centered on preparedness for emergency situations, manpower management, and logistical support for effective policing in remote and border-adjacent areas.
As part of the visit, Anurag carried out inspections of Bhangmun Police Station and Kanchanpur Police Station. These inspections aimed to evaluate day-to-day policing, crime prevention strategies, and response mechanisms at the grassroots level. The DGP reviewed records related to law enforcement activities, community policing initiatives, and crime control measures implemented by the local police.
Senior police officials accompanied the DGP during the visit, including North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Kumar. Their presence highlighted the importance of coordinated leadership and unified command in maintaining security across the sub-division.
While interacting with officers at Kanchanpur Police Station, the DGP expressed satisfaction with the overall law and order situation in the region. He stated that Kanchanpur remains peaceful and stable, with no major security concerns reported in recent times. Commending the efforts of the police personnel, Anurag noted that effective policing and timely intervention have played a crucial role in maintaining public order.

According to official sources, the primary objective of the visit was to strengthen coordination among various security agencies operating in border areas. The DGP emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, regular patrolling, and proactive intelligence gathering to prevent any untoward incidents. He also instructed officers to remain alert and responsive to emerging security challenges, especially in vulnerable border pockets.
The visit is seen as part of the state police’s broader strategy to reinforce security infrastructure and ensure peace in strategically important regions of Tripura. Regular high-level inspections, officials said, are essential to maintaining operational efficiency and public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
