Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha demands Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha’s resignation over controversy surrounding former DGP Anurag’s reported suicide note and condemns MLA Sudip Roy Barman’s expulsion, calling it politically motivated and demanding a neutral investigation.

Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha over the controversy surrounding the reported suicide note of former Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag.

Saha strongly criticised the expulsion of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman from the Assembly, describing the action as “unjust and politically motivated.” He said Barman had raised legitimate questions inside the Assembly regarding the suspicious circumstances surrounding Anurag’s death, particularly the alleged disappearance of a suicide note.

According to the Pradesh Congress chief, Barman’s demand for a neutral and transparent investigation was intended to establish whether there had been any negligence, external pressure or other circumstances connected with the case.

Saha alleged that the MLA’s expulsion was an attempt to prevent discussion on an issue of significant public concern. He maintained that questions surrounding the reported suicide note and the circumstances of Anurag’s death required a credible and impartial inquiry rather than restrictions on legislative debate.

The Congress leader also intensified his criticism of the state government, holding the Chief Minister politically responsible for the developments and demanding his resignation.

Saha announced that the Congress would intensify its agitation in the coming days. The party is expected to continue raising the issue and pressing for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the former DGP’s death and the reported suicide note.
