Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha announces a comprehensive revamp of the state’s healthcare system, aiming to establish Tripura as a self-sufficient medical hub. With super-specialty services, a new dental college, and major infrastructure upgrades, the BJP-led government is redefining health access for all citizens.

Tripura is on the path to becoming a medical hub, with a complete overhaul of its healthcare infrastructure, declared Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday. Speaking at a grand function held at Vivekananda Auditorium of Tripura Medical College (TMC), Hapania, the Chief Minister outlined a roadmap aimed at making the state’s health services self-reliant and accessible to all.

“Our government is working tirelessly to ensure that no citizen of Tripura needs to travel outside the state for medical treatment,” said Dr. Saha, who also holds the health portfolio. “This is the vision of a responsible and people-centric government led by the BJP.”

The event included blood donation camps, Van Mahotsav celebrations, free orthotic distributions for hip and knee replacement patients, and free spectacle distributions to children below 14 years of age.

Dr. Saha, who once served at Tripura Medical College himself, said, “Coming here feels like coming home. The institution has come a long way after many challenges. Today, TMC stands on solid ground, both in terms of infrastructure and academic strength. Despite initial hurdles like faculty shortages, the college is now a recognized institution across the North East.”

The CM emphasized that the state health system has seen a paradigm shift since the BJP-led government assumed power in 2018. “Nine super-specialty departments have already been made functional at Agartala Government Medical College Hospital. Developed at an investment of Rs 250 crore, these departments operate in a corporate hospital model, offering advanced medical services to the public,” he noted.

On the subject of blood donation, Dr. Saha remarked, “Blood has no religion or caste. It binds us together in humanity. Donating blood is not just a service to society; it rejuvenates the body as well. With 14 blood banks across the state—12 government and 2 private—we are well-positioned to meet emergency demands.”

The Chief Minister also celebrated the success of the newly established Dental College, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi just months after its conceptualization. “We now have 63 seats in the Dental College, and it’s already gaining attention at the national level,” he added.

Dr. Saha reiterated his government’s commitment to transforming Tripura into a self-sufficient healthcare state. “From basic medical services to super-specialty care, we are building a system that ensures universal access without the need to seek treatment elsewhere,” he stressed.

With such bold initiatives and infrastructure-driven planning, Tripura seems poised to emerge not only as a regional medical hub but as a model state for healthcare transformation in India.
