Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday launched the Tripura Startup Policy-2024, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering the state’s youth and fostering entrepreneurship. The policy promises financial and institutional support for entrepreneurs in diverse sectors, including Information Technology (IT), Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), agriculture, bamboo, and food processing.

Speaking at the launch event, CM Saha highlighted the importance of youth in nation-building. “If the youth are not developed, the development of the country is impossible,” he said, emphasizing the need to harness the energy and enthusiasm of young minds. He criticized previous governments for neglecting youth empowerment, leaving many directionless.

The Chief Minister noted that the original Startup Policy, introduced in 2019, had been revamped with significant changes to include more sectors. He underlined the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for young entrepreneurs and said the policy would help channel their potential into constructive endeavors.

“This initiative will give wings to their dreams of becoming industrialists or entrepreneurs. It aligns with the vision of ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura.’ Banks will also extend financial assistance, ensuring inclusive growth by supporting Dalit, Indigenous, and women entrepreneurs,” Saha added.

He stressed that strong collaborations have been established with premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, NITs, and central universities to provide the necessary guidance and mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Finance and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, and other dignitaries attended the event, expressing optimism about the policy’s potential to tackle unemployment and boost the state’s economy.

CM Saha reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s belief in innovation as a driver of growth. “Our Prime Minister has always emphasized that the youth are the nation’s most valuable resource. This policy will ensure their development, ultimately leading to the country’s progress,” he remarked.
