Emphasizing the immense importance of yoga in maintaining a disease-free, healthy, and balanced lifestyle, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday called upon citizens to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine. The Chief Minister made the appeal while participating in the state-level celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day held at the Hapania International Exhibition Ground on the outskirts of Agartala.

Addressing a large gathering during the event, Dr. Saha stated that yoga and pranayama, deeply rooted in India’s ancient traditions, have emerged as powerful instruments for promoting physical fitness, mental peace, emotional stability, and overall well-being across the world. He said that yoga is much more than a form of physical exercise and represents a complete way of life that creates harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.

The Chief Minister noted that modern lifestyles have led to an increase in stress, anxiety, lifestyle-related diseases, and various mental health challenges. In such circumstances, he said, yoga offers a simple yet highly effective solution for achieving a healthy, conscious, and balanced life.

“Yoga plays an immeasurable role in leading a disease-free and healthy life. Through regular practice of yoga and pranayama, individuals can improve their physical health, strengthen mental resilience, and attain inner peace,” Dr. Saha said while urging people from all age groups to embrace the ancient discipline.

Highlighting the global recognition received by yoga, the Chief Minister recalled that the proposal to observe International Yoga Day was first introduced on the world stage in 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The proposal received overwhelming support from countries across the globe, leading the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. Since 2015, the day has been celebrated annually worldwide, symbolizing health, harmony, and wellness.
