Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha launches the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign, highlighting maternal health, sanitation workers’ contributions, and Swachhata Hi Seva 2025. The initiative strengthens women’s well-being, family health, and national cleanliness drives, aligning with PM Modi’s vision.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday emphasized that women’s safety, health, and well-being remain one of the top priorities of the state government. Speaking at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital, Dr. Saha marked the launch of the nationwide “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan”, highlighting its importance for maternal and family health.
The campaign, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, will continue until October 2. It includes nationwide health camps, observance of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, and additional benefits for pregnant women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
Health of Mothers, Strength of Families
Dr. Saha stated that the health of mothers directly determines the well-being of families, which in turn strengthens society. Many women unknowingly suffer from various ailments, and the campaign aims to provide early detection and timely treatment. “This initiative marks a new chapter in maternal and public health care,” he added.
Following the launch event, Dr. Saha, accompanied by senior officials, visited stalls set up by the Health Department showcasing various healthcare services.
Respect for Sanitation Workers
The Chief Minister also drew attention to the indispensable role of sanitation workers in community health. He appealed to the public to extend the same respect to sanitation workers as to frontline workers. “They play a vital role in keeping our surroundings clean and maintaining public health,” he said.
Highlighting Tripura’s progress, he shared that out of 765 Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages, 762 have already been upgraded to ODF Plus model villages, a milestone recognized at the national level for excellence in solid and liquid waste management.
SHS 2025 Campaign Begins
Coinciding with the launch of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar,” the 9th edition of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign also commenced nationwide on Wednesday, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The 15-day campaign will conclude on October 2, marking Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary.
Organized jointly by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, SHS 2025 aims to mobilize millions across the nation for intensive cleanliness drives. The focus will be on targeting dark, dirty, and neglected spots through Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs).
Dr. Saha urged citizens to dedicate at least one hour a day to cleaning activities during the fortnight. He also stressed the involvement of youth and students in awareness drives through debates, painting competitions, and cultural events.
The Chief Minister further informed that five rural plastic waste management units are already operational in Tripura, with more to be set up in the coming days.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Chief Secretary J.K.
