Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praises TCS officers for balancing administrative duties with social responsibility during a winter clothes distribution programme, highlighting humanitarian initiatives, disaster relief contributions, and community welfare efforts across the state.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday emphasized the growing role of Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers in social responsibility, stating that administrative duties and humanitarian service must go hand in hand for holistic governance. He urged all sections of society to extend support to people in need with empathy and compassion.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while attending a winter clothes distribution programme organized by the Tripura Civil Service Officers Association at Ward No. 39 of AD Nagar. The initiative aimed to support underprivileged residents during the harsh winter season and reflected the association’s commitment to community welfare beyond official responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted that Ward No. 39 has witnessed multiple welfare-oriented initiatives over time, strengthening the bond between the administration and the local population. He noted that such programmes demonstrate how government officers can play an active role in improving social well-being at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also recalled the significance of the day, stating that the programme coincided with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event commenced with floral tributes to the revered spiritual leader and philosopher. Dr. Saha said that Swami Vivekananda’s teachings continue to inspire generations, particularly the youth, to pursue selfless service, discipline, and national progress.

“Every word of Swami Vivekananda motivates us to move forward. His vision inspires young people to work for society with dedication. Today’s winter clothes distribution programme by the Tripura Civil Service Officers Association is a commendable initiative and a reflection of those ideals,” Dr. Saha said.

He praised the TCS Officers Association for consistently showing concern for the welfare of common people. Referring to their contribution during times of crisis, the Chief Minister noted that the association had donated approximately Rs 14 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund during disaster situations, calling it a highly commendable act of solidarity and responsibility.

Dr. Saha further stated that TCS officers have been actively supporting the education of economically weaker children and have also organized voluntary blood donation camps across the state. These initiatives, he said, demonstrate that civil servants can serve as role models by addressing social challenges beyond their administrative mandates.

“TCS officers are working at block, sub-divisional, district, and state levels. Alongside their official responsibilities, people are witnessing their contribution to society. This balance between administration and compassion is highly desirable and sets a strong example,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the beneficiaries of the winter clothes distribution programme, along with those present at the event, would remember this initiative for a lifetime. According to Dr. Saha, such efforts not only bring immediate relief but also inspire other organizations, institutions, and individuals to come forward and participate in humanitarian activities.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government alone cannot address every social challenge. Therefore, voluntary efforts by organizations and associations play a crucial role in complementing government initiatives. When civil servants and social groups step forward to help people selflessly, it strengthens governance and builds public trust, he said.

“We should work with the mindset of helping people without expecting anything in return. This brings inner satisfaction and collective progress. Everyone should extend a helping hand to others,” Dr. Saha stated.

He also linked such initiatives to the broader national vision, saying that these efforts contribute to realizing the Prime Minister’s guiding principle of inclusive development and collective participation. According to him, social responsibility combined with administrative efficiency is essential for building a strong, compassionate, and inclusive society.
