Tripura CM Dr. Saha lays foundation stone for Tripura Bhavan extension in New Delhi. The ₹2.95 crore project will enhance accommodation and infrastructure for Tripura residents, officials, and visitors, strengthening the state’s presence in the national capital.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Extension Project of Tripura Bhavan at Bir Tikendrajit Marg in New Delhi, marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s institutional and support infrastructure in the national capital. The project, estimated at ₹2.95 crore, aims to enhance accommodation and service facilities for people from Tripura visiting Delhi for various purposes.
Under the extension project, six residential rooms and two large hall rooms will be constructed as part of the annexe building. The expansion is expected to significantly improve Tripura Bhavan’s capacity to serve state officials, students, patients seeking medical treatment, business representatives, and cultural delegations visiting New Delhi.
The foundation-laying ceremony witnessed the presence of several senior political leaders and dignitaries, reflecting the importance of the project for the state. Among those in attendance were Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Ramprasad Pal, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee, Minister for Social Welfare Tinku Roy, Minister for Higher Education Kishore Barman, Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma, Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma, Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhangshu Das, MLA Bhagaban Das, CRC Manoj Kumar, along with other officials and invited guests.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the extension of Tripura Bhavan would play a vital role in improving facilities for the people of the state in the national capital. He emphasized that the project aligns with the government’s broader vision of building modern and efficient infrastructure to support Tripura’s development goals.
“The extension project will strengthen Tripura Bhavan’s infrastructure and enhance facilities for our people visiting Delhi for medical treatment, education, cultural exchange, and business development,” the Chief Minister said. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating modern, accessible, and people-centric infrastructure as part of the vision for a developed Tripura.
Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma described the occasion as a historic milestone for the state. She said the new annexe building would further strengthen Tripura’s institutional presence in New Delhi and serve as a symbol of the state’s progress and aspirations. According to her, the extension would act as a bridge between Tripura and the national capital, facilitating smoother administrative coordination and greater opportunities for growth.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee stated that the foundation stone laying marked the beginning of a proud and significant chapter for Tripura. He added that the initiative would enhance Tripura’s visibility, recognition, and dignity at the national level.
Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhangshu Das said the new extension would help meet the growing expectations and needs of the people of Tripura. He noted that improved accommodation and facilities at Tripura Bhavan would be especially beneficial for citizens who travel long distances to Delhi for essential services.
Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma highlighted that the project reflects the state government’s dedication to ensuring comfort, dignity, and efficient services for Tripura residents and officials visiting the capital. He said the extension would contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for all sections of society.
