Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha lays foundation of Khowai District Hospital and Drug De-Addiction Center, inaugurates Rs 113 crore development projects, highlights infrastructure growth, healthcare expansion, rising state budget, and major investment inflow under New Tripura vision.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the Khowai District Hospital and a Drug De-Addiction Center at the Dhalabil area of Khowai district, marking a significant step forward in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and public welfare services in the state. The Chief Minister also inaugurated several other government development projects during the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that the present state government has accorded top priority to infrastructure development, ensuring substantial financial allocation in successive state budgets. He emphasized that development-driven governance is central to the vision of building a “New Tripura” in the coming years.
“The government is committed to development beyond political boundaries. Infrastructure development is the backbone of real progress, and our administration has consistently focused on improving roads, healthcare facilities, drinking water supply, and housing,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha informed that the state budget has witnessed a significant increase, rising from approximately Rs 27,000 crore last year to Rs 32,000 crore in the financial year 2025–26. A large portion of this enhanced budget has been earmarked for infrastructure development, reflecting the importance placed on long-term growth and public service delivery.
Highlighting the role of the central leadership, Dr. Saha said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly emphasized that sustainable development is impossible without strong infrastructure. He noted that the state government is closely aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive growth and development-led governance.
Referring to recent national-level engagements, the Chief Minister said he participated in a major Investors’ Summit in New Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the summit, investment proposals worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore were generated, out of which around Rs 15,000 crore was directed toward Tripura.
“This strong investor response reflects the growing confidence in Tripura. Peace, stability, and transparent governance have created a favorable environment for investment and economic growth,” Dr. Saha stated.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced that 11 development projects were inaugurated and two foundation stones were laid, with a combined estimated cost of approximately Rs 113 crore. These projects span healthcare, infrastructure, and public service sectors, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of Khowai district.
The establishment of the Drug De-Addiction Center is part of the government’s broader strategy to combat substance abuse across the state. Dr. Saha reaffirmed that drug de-addiction centers are being set up in all districts of Tripura, ensuring access to treatment, rehabilitation, and counseling services for affected individuals.

“Our government works with dedication for the welfare of the people. While the Prime Minister speaks of building a New India, we are equally committed to building a better and New Tripura. Only through sustained development can this vision be realized,” he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted major advancements in the healthcare sector. He noted that the total number of MBBS seats in the state has increased to 400, while Agartala Government Dental College now offers 63 seats. Additionally, the bed capacity at GB Hospital has nearly doubled, significantly improving patient care.
Dr. Saha added that the foundation stone for a Critical Care Block, a Communicable Disease Center, and two specialized wards was laid recently, further strengthening the state’s medical infrastructure.
