Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma on his unanimous election as Assam BJP Legislature Party leader. Sarma is set to take oath as Assam Chief Minister on May 12 in Guwahati alongside his new council of ministers.
A new political chapter is set to begin in Assam as Himanta Biswa Sarma prepares to take oath as the Chief Minister for a second consecutive term following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commanding electoral victory in the state. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on May 12 at the Khanapara Veterinary College playground in Guwahati, where several senior BJP and NDA leaders are expected to attend.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday extended his congratulations to Himanta Biswa Sarma after he was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Assam. The announcement was made in the presence of central observers appointed by the BJP leadership, including Union Minister and former BJP national president J.P. Nadda and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
Dr. Saha shared his congratulatory message through social media shortly after the official announcement. In his message, he praised Sarma’s leadership and expressed confidence in Assam’s future under his administration.
“Heartiest congratulations to Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji on being unanimously elected as Leader of the Legislative Assembly in the presence of Central Observers Hon’ble Union Minister Shri J.P. Nadda Ji and Hon’ble Haryana CM Shri Nayab Saini Ji. Under the inspiring vision of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, your dynamic leadership will take Assam to greater heights,” Dr. Saha stated.
The oath-taking ceremony is expected to witness the participation of several prominent political figures from across the Northeast and other parts of the country. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, along with several leaders from Tripura, is likely to attend the event in Guwahati.
The BJP, which contested the elections as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), registered a decisive victory in Assam by winning 82 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The result further strengthened the party’s position in the Northeast and reaffirmed public support for the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Political observers believe Sarma’s second term will focus heavily on infrastructure expansion, economic growth, employment generation, and regional development. During his previous tenure, the Assam government pushed multiple initiatives related to connectivity, healthcare, education, and investment promotion.
The unanimous selection of Himanta Biswa Sarma as the BJP Legislature Party leader also reflects the strong internal support he enjoys within the party. Senior BJP leaders have repeatedly credited him for strengthening the party’s organizational structure and expanding its political influence across the Northeast region.
The upcoming swearing-in ceremony is expected to be a major political event, with tight security arrangements and large public participation anticipated in Guwahati. Preparations at the Khanapara Veterinary College playground are already underway as the state gears up for the formation of the new government.
