Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha condemns the Takarjala attack, warning that politics of violence will not be tolerated. He assures strict action against offenders, emphasizing peace, democracy, and zero tolerance toward political aggression in Tripura.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday issued a stern warning against the growing trend of political violence, declaring that the “politics of muscle power and violence will not be tolerated” under his government. His remarks came a day after several people, including an elderly woman, were injured in an alleged attack on BJP workers who were on their way to attend the inauguration of the BJP Takarjala Mandal office on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters in Agartala, Dr. Saha strongly condemned the attack, asserting that those responsible for disturbing peace and attacking people in the name of politics would face strict legal consequences.

“Law will take its own course. Such violence will not be tolerated. Those behind the incident will be brought to justice,”
the Chief Minister said, emphasizing his government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.

Condemnation of the Takarjala Incident

The incident, which occurred in the Takarjala area of Sepahijala district, left several BJP supporters injured. According to reports, the victims were part of a convoy heading toward the BJP Mandal office inauguration when they were allegedly attacked by miscreants. Panic spread in the locality as vehicles were damaged and people were forced to flee the spot.

Dr. Saha, who visited the injured at GBP Hospital in Agartala, assured them that the culprits would not be spared. He also directed the administration and police to take swift and impartial action to identify and arrest those involved in the assault.

Appeal for Peace and Democracy

During his media interaction, the Chief Minister reiterated that Tripura’s development and democracy cannot thrive amid violence.

“Our state is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We cannot let a few disrupt this peace with acts of violence. Political differences must be resolved democratically, not through aggression,”
Dr. Saha added.

He appealed to all political parties to uphold the spirit of democracy and peace, stressing that citizens should not fall prey to divisive politics or provocation.

The Chief Minister’s comments are being viewed as a strong political message to those attempting to create instability ahead of the upcoming local political events.

Law and Order Priority for Government

Dr. Saha reaffirmed that maintaining law and order remains a top priority for his administration. He instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to monitor the situation closely and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended quickly.

“Tripura’s peace-loving people will not accept the politics of intimidation. Our government will act firmly against any attempt to disturb social harmony,”
the Chief Minister asserted.

The Tripura Police have reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, with several teams deployed to identify the attackers based on eyewitness accounts and available evidence.

Political Reactions

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation across the political spectrum. The BJP state leadership expressed concern over the safety of its members, while opposition parties urged the government to ensure fairness in the probe.

Political observers believe that Dr. Saha’s strong stance reflects his intent to strengthen the rule of law and send a message of zero tolerance toward political violence—a step aimed at reinforcing public confidence in the administration.

A Message of Restraint and Responsibility

As Tripura continues its journey of growth and political maturity, Dr. Manik Saha’s clear message serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and restraint in political discourse. The Chief Minister’s warning also echoes a broader national sentiment that development and democracy can only flourish in a peaceful environment, free from coercion and violence.
