In a major decision the state government has transferred incumbent Chief secretary Kumar Alok to SIPARD as Director General.  J K Sinha, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will now hold the position of Chief Secretary until further order.

L H Darlong, Principal Secretary GA(P&T) who was holding the additional charge of SIPRAD DG has been relieved from the responsibility.

The transfer of Kumar Alok from the position of Chief Secretary was not surprising in view of the cold relations that were developed between Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and him. Even on Friday Chief secretary Kumar Alok did not attend the swearing in ceremony of the Chief Minister as an MLA after his victory in the by polls. He had gone with some of his senior colleagues to hold a meeting in North Tripura.

It was being alleged from some quarters that the Chief Minister was not happy with Kumar Alok and felt that he was not getting supports and cooperation as expected from a Chief Secretary.

J K Sinha who also holds the charges of Health and Family Welfare was principal secretary to incumbent Chief Minister Dr Saha as well as former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
