The Union Government has released Rs. 699 crore to Tripura as part of an additional tax devolution instalment worth Rs. 1,09,019 crore to states. The funding aims to strengthen state finances and accelerate capital expenditure and development activities.
Tripura has received Rs. 699 crore as part of an additional tax devolution instalment released by the Union Government to state governments ahead of the festive season. The Centre on Saturday released a total of Rs. 1,09,019 crore to states to strengthen their financial resources and accelerate development and welfare-related expenditure.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the amount was released as an advance instalment of tax devolution to help state governments increase capital spending and meet development-related financial requirements.
The latest release is the second additional instalment of tax devolution during the current financial year. It is being provided over and above the regular monthly tax devolution that states receive from the Centre.
The Union Government said the additional funding would enable states to accelerate capital expenditure and ensure the timely implementation of various development and welfare programmes. The release ahead of the festive season is also expected to provide additional financial flexibility to state administrations for meeting their expenditure requirements.
In August this year, the Centre had released another additional tax devolution instalment worth Rs. 1,09,019 crore to state governments, apart from the regular monthly allocation. The earlier release was also aimed at strengthening state finances and supporting infrastructure development and other expenditure commitments.
The latest allocation of Rs. 699 crore is expected to provide additional financial support to Tripura for implementing development projects, strengthening public infrastructure and meeting welfare-related expenditure.
Meanwhile, official figures on the country’s fiscal position show that India’s fiscal deficit during the first six months of the current financial year, covering April to September, reached Rs. 7.14 lakh crore. This represents 42.1 per cent of the total fiscal deficit target estimated in the Union Budget for the entire financial year 2026-27.
The Centre has projected a fiscal deficit of Rs. 16.96 lakh crore for the financial year 2026-27.
The government’s revenue receipts during the April-September period stood at Rs. 17.57 lakh crore, accounting for 49.7 per cent of the full-year budget estimate. Of the total revenue receipts, net tax revenue contributed Rs. 12.76 lakh crore, while non-tax revenue amounted to Rs. 4.81 lakh crore.
Net tax revenue reached 44.5 per cent of the full-year budget estimate during the first six months of the financial year, compared with 43.3 per cent recorded during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Non-tax revenue also registered an increase, reaching approximately Rs. 4.8 lakh crore against Rs. 4.7 lakh crore during the same period last year.

The additional tax devolution is part of the Centre’s broader financial support mechanism for states, allowing them to utilise their share of central tax collections for infrastructure development, public services and welfare initiatives.
For Tripura, the latest Rs. 699 crore allocation comes as an additional financial resource that can support the state’s ongoing development priorities and strengthen its capacity to undertake public welfare and infrastructure-related expenditure.
