Tripura Pradesh Congress staged a dharna in front of Enforce Directorate office here protesting interrogation of AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. The ED summoned Sonia Gandhi and questioned here relating to National Herald Case. Earlier Rahul Gandhi had also been questioned by the ED in the same case.
Participating in the dharna Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman came down heavily on the NDA government headed by Narendra Modi and accused him of acting like Hitler. Roy Barman alleged that the central government was using the ED and CBI for meeting the narrow political interest of the BJP, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The country is watching closely. Entire nation is reeling under severe dearth of work, the price of essential commodities has taken a meteoric rise and value of Indian rupee plummeted. At the receiving end is the poor people of the country”, the Congress MLA said adding that it had been the experience that whenever Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi talk about the people’s problem BJP brings in ED or CBI to grind the axe and divert the attention of the people from the burning problems.
“Like Hitler it is basically a one man’s rule- that is of Modi and this is called fascism”, Roy Barman said adding that Congress would not relent and the fight against the BJP led NDA government would continue undeterred.
AICC secretary and In-charge of Tripura Pradesh Congress Szarita Laitphalng along with TPCC president Birajit Sinha, former president Gopal Roy, MLA Asish Saha also attended then protest programme.
The Congress is protesting the questioning of Sonia Gandhi across the country as they alleged the step was politically motivated.
